Auditions & membership
Rehearsals and committments
Our concert year runs from September through the December for our fall season and January through early June for our spring season. In September we begin rehearsal for our Christmas concerts. We break for the holidays and reconvene in January, when we begin rehearsals for our spring/summer concerts. Auditions are held in early September and early January.
Timpanogos Chorale rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 pm at the Historic City Hall in American Fork, Utah. The address is 31 N Church Street in American Fork. We do not rehearse June through August.

Choir members should plan to rehearse and perform with us for the entire concert year. Attendance at dress rehearsals and our main performances of our Christmas and spring/summer concerts is mandatory. We make every effort to provide the year’s schedule in advance so choir members can arrange their schedules accordingly.

Monetary requirements
Dues are $50 per person per concert year beginning in your second year. Discounts are given for multiple family members and free scholarships are available for those who need them.
Choir members must provide their own concert dress or tux. (Concert dress is from Stage Accent; a tux can be purchased or rented from Tuxedo Wearhouse. Contact Brandt at 801-226-7681.) Ladies also must purchase matching jewelry while men purchase bow ties that match the women’s blouses. Contact our costume coordinator at rehearsal to purchase the accessories.
Timpanogos Chorale is an auditioned ensemble. Those wishing to join the choir should prepare a solo musical selection which features their voice. Auditionees will also be given a short excerpt to sightread. An accompanist will be provided. Auditions begin the week before the regular rehearsals and usually for the first few weeks of each new season (see upcoming audition details below).
Choir members have the option to purchase or borrow their music. You must have a plain, black folder for performances. You are welcome to use any plain, black folder for holding your music but you should refrain from hole-punching the scores if you haven’t purchased them (please, use octavo holders instead). High quality choir folders are available from MyMusicFolders as well as MusicFolder. For what it’s worth, it is believed the first website to offer the better product.
Upcoming auditions:
Come to our rehearsal location (Old AF City Hall – 31 N Church St) with a song prepared to sing from any genre or style. An accompanist will be provided. The audition will consist of a range check, your prepared piece, and a small sight reading exercise to gauge your music reading abilities. Note: you do not have to be a skilled sight reader to join the Chorale.
Next audition: Thursday, January 9, 7:00pm – 9:00pm.
Please email: info@timpanogoschorale.org to schedule an audition slot that night.
